Are SuperCalla Cables MFi Certified?

SuperCalla Cables are currently not MFi Certified. The manufacturers we are currently working with are MFi Certified manufacturers and currently manufacture MFi Certified cables. This does not mean Apple will provide us with an MFi Certification, but we will do our absolute best to get them MFi Certified before shipping.

Can I get a refund?

After the campaign ends, the funds are released to SuperCalla and they become non-refundable. The reason for this is actually quite simple. The money being raised in this campaign will be utilized to start the manufacturing process and meet our minimum order requirements to obtain specific pricing and quotations for the number of units we will be ordering. There are many calculations working together to make this product/company a reality. This includes advertisements and many third parties who are making this project happen. If you are supporting our project, please make sure you can afford to do so. Especially with the current situations the world is dealing with. The last thing we want to do is deny people of refunds when they truly need the money. Please back this project responsibly.

What's the warranty?

SuperCalla cables do not have an official warranty. It’s very difficult to know how long our cables do or should last without widespread use.

Are there taxes and fees?

SuperCalla is not responsible for additional taxes and fees such as VAT.

Last updated: June 11, 2020 11:53

Why am I being charged shipping and upgrade fees?

Shipping costs are increased due to COVID, and are calculated by weight and dimension. An update has been posted on our KS page explaining some common concerns.

Where can I find the latest update regarding shipping and upgrades?

Please see our update #10 below.

Hello Backers,

As some of you know SOME of you have received the survey to pick your cables. Many of you have not. The survey was being sent out in waves, but we’ve since paused them and will resume them shortly. The reason we paused the surveys is so that we could change a few things. We’ve gotten a lot of feedback from the surveys that are out so far, regarding the upgrade charges and the shipping rate. We’re hoping to clear up some things and explain what we did in response to the feedback, and what we can and can’t do at this point. We are genuinely doing this because we believe in listening to the feedback from this community, not for any other reason. The remainder of the surveys will continue going out in waves over the next couple of days.

UPGRADES.

With Kickstarter, the rewards that we launched were NEVER changed throughout the campaign. Kickstarter does not allow campaigns to change a reward once launched. We can add additional rewards, but we can’t remove the ones we launched with. So, what the reward currently reads is exactly what it has said all along from the moment we launched our campaign. Below is a screenshot of our page, on the right you can see the rewards have descriptions. Every reward has the description, but I’ve written below the triple pack example as it is and always has been on our page (screenshots can be seen on our original update):

“The triple pack

3 packs of our SuperCalla cables. You will get to pick your connection type, color and length after the campaign ends. You can mix and match all options after the campaign ends in the survey - some options will require upgrading. See our rewards section on our campaign page for details. *** One for the kitchen, one for the bedroom, one for the car! *** Worldwide shipping - calculated during the survey process. Estimated shipping costs on campaign page. *****”

With Kickstarter you can’t add variations to the reward. As an example, we can’t have a three pack, then let people pick the length, type and color of each cable through the Kickstarter platform. With over 20 cable options between the cable type, length and color, then offering a single pack, double pack, triple pack, six pack and nine pack, the variables are endless. To keep things as simple as possible, we used BackerKit which essentially provides a menu for you to pick your cables from after the campaign ends. This is very common in the crowdfunding world and the majority of large campaigns use these types of services post campaign.

In each of our rewards offered and on our campaign page, we clearly explained that some cables will require upgrading. We even wrote it out in text form on our campaign page so that it can be read and translated by all languages. Below is what it says on our campaign page (screenshots can be seen in the original update):

“Important! Reward upgrades

All above reward pricing is for standard NON-iPhone connection types in 3ft (0.9m) length. There will be a $2 upgrade for iPhone connection types. We have recently added a type c to type c charging cable with 100w 5a PD charging capabilities that will incur an additional $3 charge (this specific cable may only be available in 3ft length). There will be a $3 upgrade for 6ft (1.8m) length cables. These upgrades are per cable. You will be able to upgrade and make these selections after the campaign ends.”

We honestly have and had absolutely NOTHING to hide when it came to the additional fees, it was made as clear as possible for all to see and read. The reasoning for having it as an add on charge was to allow the mixing and matching within the reward levels and to not pass on the extra cost of certain cables to every single backer.

The additional costs are because there are additional costs incurred for manufacturing specific cables. These are not inexpensive to manufacture, and all the components add up quickly especially when using qualified manufacturers. The iPhone cables cost more than the other cables, and so do the 6 foot and 100W cables. There is no way around it for us or for our backers, they cost more to manufacture.

SHIPPING.

First off, we want to make it clear that we have NEVER claimed that shipping was free or included. In fact, just the opposite. In each reward it is clearly written that shipping will be calculated during the survey process. This was also written on the campaign page in the largest font possible in BOLD LETTERING. Below you can see the screenshot of this. We understand the “estimated” shipping costs are off by quite a bit. Unfortunately it’s not something we can control. The pandemic has caused shipping rates to skyrocket.

Organizing shipping has been an absolute nightmare. We priced many, many different options and the prices were unreal. Not just the rates but the handling services as well. The fulfillment centers prices had increased greatly, many had over 100% increases due to the pandemic. We spent a lot of time trying to find a solution to counteract the inflated prices and we found a company that was reasonable and had a great reputation as well. With so many backers, we wanted to be confident the company we chose could tackle the task successfully. Keep in mind, through this process things continue to change due to COVID 19. It’s not only us adjusting to different issues, it’s our manufacturers and shippers as well. We are all doing what we can.

With all of the complaints coming in about how long the survey was taking and hearing other companies with major delays on products being held in ports and stuck in the export ports, we decided to go with the all air shipping option. This is not cheap by any means, but it would help to eliminate quite a few issues. With this option came a great increase in shipping costs. However, we have heard the feedback and for some of the backers, and we have changed the shipping rates. We want to make it clear that this price change will not be available for everyone. We spent all day yesterday and today working to re-calculate our shipping rates based on ocean shipments in response to the feedback from the initial surveys. Ocean shipping to certain countries cost the same or nearly the same as air freight, so for those circumstances there is not much we can do and it makes no sense to change the rates for those poeple. We want to make it very clear that we are not looking to make money on shipping, but to at least break even. Just know we are truly doing our absolute best here to accommodate everyone.

I’ve linked a screenshot (https://www.dropbox.com/s/hqnh27rnyd0yjnk/Screen%20Shot%202020-06-29%20at%207.14.17%20PM.png?dl=0) of the recommended courier to the US and the airfreight shipping rates we WERE working with. The rates are now adjusted for ocean shipments to certain countries, but we are still posting these rates that the air freight is based off of ONLY FOR REFERENCE AND TO SHOW TRANSPARENCY. The weights for the shipping rates are in kg, but to help you calculate the old shipping rates for your package, the lightest cable weighs about 50g and the heaviest cable weighs about 150g (without packaging material). The rates are in USD and don’t include fulfillment charges like storing and grabbing the individual cables for the order handling fees.

To reiterate what we’ve done based on the feedback: we since then paused the rest of the surveys to input new rates for shipping that will help out those with heavier packages and high shipping costs for air freight. The solution we are using is ocean shipping containers to the US meaning a shipping option that is cheaper but definitely slower. Although airfreight has a lot of positives, we agree that the shipping costs were much higher than the estimates, and we’ve taken in the feedback that people would rather pay less shipping, so we calculated those rates and input them into the survey. The rest of the surveys will now resume going out over the next couple of days in waves. Initially, we were going off of feedback for faster delivery, and while delays are unexpected but happen, we listened to the feedback to keep it to a minimum and that is why initially the rates were based off of the above link to the airfreight rates to the US. We are addressing the US specifically, because international airfreight shipping on the heavier packages was indeed quite expensive to the US, and more than half our campaign is from the US.

We don’t expect everyone to believe us or be happy, we are just being transparent and trying to reduce costs for the backers as we heard and understand the feedback. Keep in mind, the shipping times referenced are once the products are actually ready to be shipped and manufacturing is completed. Again, we are doing everything we can to accommodate the group as a whole which is delicate considering there are 40,000 backers from all across the globe.

NEW TO KICKSTARTER BACKERS.

Please know that when you “back” a project on Kickstarter you are supporting a startup company. Even though we have experience in business and our founder has experience in Kickstarter, this does not mean it’s a product that is 100% ready to ship like an online store. You are literally supporting the very first production run and you helped raise the funds to go from prototypes to end product. We used this platform for this project as it is intended to be used. We are legitimately using the funds raised through Kickstarter to start this business. We are moving along and will have the cables in your hands as quickly as possible. Here is a link to more info on Kickstarter for those of you that are new.

MOVING FORWARD.

We will be as transparent and open as possible with all necessary concerns and progress. There are things that may go unspoken because with so many backers, the responses and question can be overwhelming, and we want to focus on getting the product in your hands as quickly as possible.

Please know that we are doing our absolute best to provide a good experience for everyone involved! There is absolutely no lack of effort on our end and WE ARE DEFINITELY NOT A SCAM or trying to take advantage of our backers. The most important goal is delivering SuperCalla Cables to our backers, period. Unfortunately, there were many uncontrollable issues we are faced with including many the pandemic has brought to the table which effects all aspects of this campaign. At the end of the day, we will deliver on our promises. If you were part of the group that received the initial batches of surveys before the shipping rates were re-calculated (you received and filled out a survey before June 30, 2020) and you made a complete payment through PayPal, please email or message us directly and we will be able to do the correct adjustments for you. If you paid with a credit card, your card will be charged the adjusted amount and it is not necessary to message us or take any other actions. Again, not all countries will be affected by the recalculations. Shipping rates are still inflated due to the pandemic and as a small company we don’t have any leverage in dealing with the rates we get from couriers. But, for the countries that ocean shipments impacted and decreased the shipping rates, we have applied new rates. Please note that this also means some countries and many international orders will still be receiving air freight shipments. For all other customer support inquiries, we are dealing with a high volume of messages, comments, and emails, so we appreciate your patience.

RISKS AND CHALLENGES.

With Kickstarter there are always challenges and with that comes risks when you support a Kickstarter project. For us, we will deliver, that is not an option. That’s why we make sure we do not cut anything short when it comes to what we are charging and how we handle things. We have seen too many project creators simply run out of cash or just disappear due to mismanagement of funds or simply being fraudulent. WE WILL NOT BE ONE OF THEM.

REFUNDS.

It’s hard for us to deny refunds after raising the amount of money we did and the world in the condition it’s currently in. However, we have the policy in place for a reason and, we are not hiding anything. About 50% of the money raised will go towards cost of goods, yes believe it or not, it’s a fact, our cables are not inexpensive to manufacture. The upgrade fees will cover any variants that cost more from the manufacturer. Another 25% went towards advertising collaborators. In order to raise the amount of money we did, we had to balance the advertising budget and the price of the reward packages we offered. This was a fine line. There were also Kickstarter fees and other 3rd party management fees. We are collecting shipping to break even on our shipping, nothing more. There are warehousing, fulfillment, pick and pack fees, storage, and other costs involved with shipping, this is called shipping and handling and with 40,000 orders, it ads up very quickly. You will notice in our linked screenshot above the rates we were working with; we are not passing on any of the additional costs to the backers, we are just trying to break even as our shipping projected invoice was set at more than $800,000. Though our campaign is very large, compared to other businesses, our company and volume on this 1 time fulfillment is too small to have any leverage with the couriers/our fulfillment center. We do not have the room necessary to just offer refunds as all of our numbers are working together to make this possible. With that being said, what we disclosed on our campaign in regard to refunds, is 100% true and accurate. Please read what was disclosed on our campaign and is currently on our campaign below in regards to refunds.

“After the campaign ends, the funds are released to SuperCalla and they become non-refundable. Please back this project responsibly.”

I want to thank each and every person that supported this project. We are doing everything we need to do to get your SuperCalla Cables in your hands as quickly as possible. If you have any questions on things not covered in this update, please send a message to us and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. With great thanks and appreciation for your support we want to say THANK YOU once again.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
